Mike pleased at regeneration plans for Robinson House Site

by mikefuller on 18 December, 2010

Robinson House is a three-storey block of bed-sit flats located at the top of Tonmead Road, Lumbertubs, which has been empty since September 2008.  The Lib Dems on the Borough Council wanted to see this land bought back to use, so it could do some good- instead of an eye-sore building being left to rot and become a real problem for our area.

This week, following consultation with local residents and officials, and a “design and finance” competition, the panel (which included representaton from the Brookside Residents Association) recommended that the site and project be given to Orbit Home, the council accepted this recommendation.

The site will now see the building demolished and replaced with 7 three bedroom houses and 10 two bedroom houses, with 12 for rent and 5 for shared ownership – more affordable housing in Northampton.  The new houses will also be greener, with solar panels fitted to the roof.  Mike Fuller said “it’s great to see a future for the site, the buiding was becoming dangerous and I welcome any positive development in our area”.
